When I offer Copper House experience opportunities to potential retreat organizers, I’m often at a loss for words to describe a Patricia Johnson floral worship. I start with, “This is not your average flower arranging experience where you’ll learn to assemble a $39.95 FTD bouquet.”
Patricia Johnson’s floral arranging style is at once stunning yet relaxed, classy and confident yet unfussy. When she gets ready for a Copper House floral workshop, Johnson starts by calling around to her local flower growers, many of whom are just a few miles from us, buying–much like a chef–what’s in season and what’s available. She arrives with buckets of colorful flowers, none of which you’ll find at your average florist or grocery store, and starts to set up a flower shop in miniature.

Patricia’s teaching style is laid back and full of valuable insider tips, appealing to men and women of all ages. Before she begins her sessions, she passes out clippers and leads everyone on a foraging expedition around the Copper House grounds. Students are encouraged to cut additional greens to make each bouquet personal and unique. We always love it when our guests have reasons to take in the sights and sounds of the Copper House flower beds and forest.
When Patricia is not at Copper House, she is owner of Ornithea House of Flowers where she designs floral creations for wedding and special events consistent with her relaxed, elegant style.
