Wreaths For All Seasons

December 10, 2025 By //  by Pam Anderson

This past week,  floral experience partner, Patricia Johnson, hosted a delightful evening of fun, camaraderie, and creativity with her wreath-making experience here at Copper House. On this unseasonably cold night, we greeted guests with our famous bar nuts, nooch popcorn, and warm cider, and they immediately got to work, choosing from a wide array of evergreens to make their bundles–the first step in making a wreath.

Copper House experience partner, Patricia Johnson of Ornithea House of Flowers, gives a brief tutorial on how to assemble evergreen bundles for the wreaths

The next step in the wreath-making process is wiring those bundles onto a wreath form, no doubt the most tedious step, but our new wreath-making machine streamlines the process, quickly clamping the bundles onto the wreath form, giving participants more time to decorate their wreaths and connect with others.

The wreath-making machine streamlines the process, so there’s more time for the fun stuff like decorating and connecting with friends and colleagues.

After creating their bundles, everyone headed upstairs for a Copper House chili spread, complete with all of the toppings, while Patricia’s team clamped the bundles onto the wreath forms. On cue, just as everyone was finishing up with dinner, the wreaths were made and ready for decorating. As they decorated their wreaths, guests nibbled on our homemade peppermint bark.

Making and decorating your own wreath is more fun than purchasing one. They’re also more beautiful and unique, and there’s satisfaction knowing you did it yourself.
Patricia brought enough greens for everyone to take home a bucket for decorating.

Wreaths aren’t just for the winter holidays. The other seasons–spring, summer, and fall–also offer their own distinct wreath materials. We now offer wreath-making year round as one of the many Copper House experiences at your next retreat. Not only will you have a memory of your day here, you’ll also leave with something tangible to beautify your home. Patricia sources local materials as much as possible. Wreath-making workshops are over for this holiday season, but we look forward to offering this experience to you again in 2026.

Even though it was early evening when guests arrived, it was quite dark in this near winter solstice moment. They’re may not be a star in the East, but notice the miraculous beam of light leading guests to the Copper House. : )
